- Sometimes, even though your Internet connection looks fine otherwise, you can't connect to Twitch chat or get disconnected all the time.
- This could happen for various reasons but often it's not Twitch itself.
- Possible reasons are:
- The path between your ISP and the Twitch chat servers is overloaded
- You have a firewall in your network which blocks or interferes with Twitch chat
- This is where my proxy addon comes in. Rather than connecting to Twitch chat directly, you connect to my server which then "forwards" it to Twitch.
- This can have several advantages:
- The chat connection follows a different, possibly non-overloaded path
- Your ISP or local network doesn't know you are connecting to Twitch chat
